Thank you for your interest in Hospice Music Therapy's line of therapeutic audio CDs. I would like to take this opportunity to give you a brief description of how I got started producing therapeutic music for use in hospice care.

In the summer of 2005 my mother, Charlotte, was suffering from Dementia. It still amazes me how rapidly the disease progressed, it seemed one week she was coherent and bright-eyed. Then the next week she was extremely agitated and was prone to bouts of aggression towards her caretakers. I had often read of the benefits of music therapy for treating Dementia, however I was disappointed in my search to find a therapeutic CD for use with Dementia or even for general use in hospice care.

I sought out the assistance of a music therapist and together we digitally recorded a single music track that was nine minutes long. Then with the help of my nephew, who is a local DJ, we turned the single nine minute track into a 60 minute audio CD that could be played repeatedly for my mother, throughout the night and day.

The beneficial effects of the CD we produced were rapid and dramatic. It eased my mother's constant state of agitation and the bouts of aggression became less frequent and severe. In addition to the benefits for my mother, the music also had a calming effect on caregivers, friends, and family that were present.

Sadly, my mother Charlotte passed away on Sept 21, 2005, but I feel like I did my best to comfort her and ease her suffering in her last days. Since the music therapy CD we had created was so helpful to us, I figured there were other families out there who could benefit. I then founded Hospice Music Therapy and began designing music with the help and guidance of music therapists, music practitioners, amateur musicians, and two very talented sound engineers.
